Publication of submissions received

In total the Commission received 1193 submissions. Just over 1000 submissions were from individuals, including young people and children with direct experience of the child safety system as well as departmental staff, family members, foster and kinship carers, and parents. The Commission also received 191 submissions from community organisations, government and frontline support bodies, academics, legal organisations, and individual lawyers. Over the last 10 months of the Commission, 49 hearings were convened over six hearing blocks in Far North Queensland, Brisbane and the Darling Downs. The Commission also led two youth sessions in Cairns and Toowoomba attended by more than 50 young people.

Submissions will be published periodically. The Commissioner has not published:

*Information that was determined to be confidential, subject to the copyright of another party, obscene, potentially defamatory or in breach of anti-discrimination legislation.

*The names of people who made submissions but requested confidentiality and it was granted. Personal information such as contact details have also been removed.

*Submissions or parts of submissions that were determined to be outside of the Inquiry’s Terms of Reference.

*Submissions or the names of submitters relating to matters before the court or current procedural process.

The Commissioner wishes to acknowledge those who provided information to the Inquiry, including those who requested confidentiality and are not published on this site.
